√ BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra conducted by Ilan Volkov
[City Halls, Candleriggs, Glasgow, G1 1NQ ]
This evening will see them perform Don Juan by Strauss, Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.4, Sibelius’ Symphony No.7 and the world premiere of Sir Peter Maxwell Davies latest BBC commission ‘Overture, St. Francis of Assisi’.
This concert includes a pre-concert prelude at 6.45pm with Sir Peter Maxwell Davies in conversation with Gavin Reid, Director BBC SSO. [read details...]

Versatile, enterprising and ambitious, the Scottish Ensemble is a tight-knit band of outstanding string players from around Europe who perform regularly together under Artistic Director, Jonathan Morton.
During this ARTMUSFAIR special concert they will perform a Quintet for Trumpet and String Quartet by Maxwell Davies before a Q&A session featuring the composer.

This ensemble will perform ‘The Birds’ by Maxwell Davies, ‘Im Vormonat…’ by Helmut Oehring, ‘Spiricom’ by Gordon McPherson and ‘Tinkling’ by Yannis Kyriakides.

The Hebrides Ensemble perform some of Peter Maxwell Davies’ most celebrated chamber works together with works by fellow septuagenarian, Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen.
This programme combines the Glasgow premiere of the String Trio, co-commissioned by Hebrides Ensemble for the St. Magnus Festival and Moving Still, a work written for the Kronos Quartet by Gudmundsen-Holmgreen
